World Centric PL-SC-U10T, 10-Inch 3-Compartment Fiber Plate, 700-Piece Case, ASTM D6400, BPI, USDA is made from wheat straw fiber, which makes these plates completely compostable and eco-friendly, as well as suitable for both cold and hot items. They don't contain petrochemicals, plastics or other 'planet-unsafe' components, their material naturally decays into organic matter in up to 1-3 and 2-4 months in commercial and home composting facilities, respectively. They are not bad, and the price is justified - if not entirely - by the sturdy quality and eco-friendly materials. But I still have trouble figuring out such an unusual number of pieces in a batch - not 500, not 1000, but 700. What's up with that? I guess that doesn't make much of a difference, but it annoys the perfectionist in me.

In the pictures, these plates look a lot better, but in real life, they have a distinctly rustic look. I understand that on some occasions, this look could be a feature, but still - they're not ok for all occasions.
